Power of Partnership Initiative
A plan to help create a healthy future for children, families and seniors
We all want the best possible future for ourselves and our families, but most of us may not know how to do it. What we do know is that to achieve the best possible results we need strong support and involvement from our community with a specific plan, a master action plan, one that implements measurable goals to improve all of our lives. To help achieve these goals, the United Way of Santa Barbara has created a project called the Power of Partnership Initiative (PPI).
What is the Power of Partnership Initiative?
The PPI is a collaborative effort to create community-driven and expert-assisted 10-year Master Action plans that increase the well being of children, families and seniors in our community. In February of 2006, United Way held expert forums to discuss the most important issues in health and human services and found that nonprofit, community, government, funding and education experts from Carpinteria to Goleta do not have community wide plans that everyone understands and follows. Our society is growing more complex and so are the issues that affect us all. To address these issues locally, we need comprehensive as well as effective master action plans to create a better future!
Power of Partnership Initiative Goals
The PPI aims to build a better future for children, families and seniors in a variety of ways: Increase the efficiency of endeavors to improve people’s lives; get people and organizations working together toward community goals; increase cooperation among community, state, regional and national funding institutions; increase collaboration and partnering among local health and human service organizations; deliver better results by coordinating efforts to reach community goals; improve services for everyone through a more effective health and human service system; and increase the overall well being of children, families and seniors in our community!
Your input is important for Power of Partnership Initiative
One of the most important aspects of the PPI is you. During the last two weeks of May the PPI wants to hear your thoughts, concerns, ideas and vision for children and families in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria. Your input at the Community Vision Forums will help shape the master action plans and consequently affect the quality of our lives in the future. In May you are encouraged to attend and take part in one of four Children and Families Community Vision Forums on:
Master Action Plans Community Vision Forums for seniors & families will be held in October 2008.
